Another Day in NYC

I recently spent a week in my favorite place…NYC!  I was able to actually explore the city and museums this trip more than usual and checked out some amazing places.  I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite things I experienced!

MOMA – Edgar Degas Exhibit (Through July 24th)

nyc

If you’re able to get out to New York before July 24th, check out the Edgar Degas exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art.  I love when I go to a museum and actually learn about a specific form of art!  Edgar Degas was an artist in the late 1870s and is best known for his monotype printing process.  I swear it’s incredible.  They even have videos at the museum that show you exactly how he did it.  Also – If you’re a student, you get a discounted price!

ps- there’s also an awesome exhibit at MOMA right now that takes you through the 1960s….they have specific work from every year on display!  Even some Andy Warhol.  No rush with that one though, it’ll be there till March 2017.

psps- MY FAVORITE PAINTING IN THE WORLD IS HOUSED THERE. Starry Night by Van Gogh.

Housing Works

nyc

Housing works has many different locations throughout the city.  They’re not just a thrift store though, they are so much more.  Their mission, according to their website: “Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Our mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts. ”  When you shop, you help people in need.  It’s a major win/win.  I went to the SoHo location and fell in love!  One side is all books and the other side is some seriously amazing clothing items!!

Les Enfants de Boheme

nyc

The best little french restaurant/cafe you’ll find on the Lower East Side.  I seriously am going to eat there every day when I go back.  Fun little fact:  When you go, look down at the floor.  There are LEGO men sealed in the cracks.  It’s amazing.

Metropolitan Museum of Art – Manus x Machina

_MG_8943

Everyone saw the incredible dresses worn by the stars at the Met Gala for the new Manus x Machina exhibit…but you can see the amazing works of art (yes, dresses can be art) that weren’t on the carpet at the MET now!  There are dresses from the early 20th Century till now on display.  It’s enough to make your heart flutter.  NYC Hack: MET tickets are donations…you can literally pay $1 if you want.  Although, I like to at least pay $10….even though it’s worth so much more.

Oh, how I love New York.  I can’t wait to go back in a couple of months!

Leave a comment below and tell me:  Have you been to these places/seen these exhibits?!  And don’t forget to subscribe!
