“Girls” Inspired Hairstyle: The Jessa Braid

I recently went on a “Girls” marathoning binge and I’m more than obsessed!!!  It’s such a wonderful show…especially for any girl who is in their early twenties and living a “city” lifestyle!  I’ve never been able to relate to a show so much!

Anyway, through my binge watching, I became enamored by Jessa and her incredible style!  Her free spirit look is so inspiring!  So, I thought I would show you all how to do one of the hairstyles that Jessa frequently rocks (even though my locks are not as long and luscious as hers)!

Step 1)  I let my hair dry naturally to get that “messy” texture Jessa always rocks.  Make sure you do a deep side part!  It’s the fundamental key to this look.

Step 2)  After your hair is dry, you’re going to french braid the front strands of your hair.  When you braid, make sure you are adding strands that are behind the braid, not the front.  This will make it fall more naturally.  (If you add strands to the french braid from the front, it’ll stick out …Cindy-Lou Who style.)  Spray the bottom of the braid with some setting hairspray!  It looks much better than a silly little clear plastic band.

Step 3)  Once you have your braid set, you’re going to curl the rest of your hair.  For this, I used the Bubble Wand from Not Your Mother’s.  (Tip: when curling, turn the tool upside down and then wrap your hair around the tool from top to bottom.  It creates a much more tousled look!)

Step 4)  Shake it out a little!  Make sure those curls are nice and loose!

Step 5)  Add a little hairspray and you’re ready to go!

All in all, this hairstyle should only take about 30 minutes to accomplish…and you’ll look amazing the rest of the day!
