How do you keep summer skin clear and beautiful in the sticky midsummer heat?
It starts with keeping skin clean and healthy, and doing a few easy treatments once a week. But resist the urge to harshly over strip your skin – gentle treatment with natural products is best.
Here are 3 simple tips for Fresh Summer Skin:
1. Scrub away dead skin on face and body with gentle exfoliants.
Sunning and swimming dry out your skin and leave it dull looking. Polish away the flaky dead layer on top once a week in the shower and your true color will shine through more evenly.
2. Deep clean pores and reduce excess oiliness with clay-based masks.
Pores get larger and oil flows more easily in summer heat. Blemishes also seem to appear more often at this time. Clear it out with a once-weekly facial mask to absorb oil and tighten up pores, twice per week for troubled or very oily skin.
3. Switch to lighter tinted moisturizers that “breathe” more easily than full foundations.
Mineral powder foundations get sticky in hot weather and airbrush makeup tends to melt when you sweat or exert in the heat. A tinted moisturizer will give light coverage without compromising your look. But since they don’t hide everything, blend concealer under eyes and on any trouble spots before applying tinted moisturizers.
I am a big fan of natural products made from plant extracts that nourish skin and are not tested on animals. My all-time favorite easy/weekly treatment products are the Exfoliating New Cell Scrub and Deep Cleansing Mask from Arbonne’s FC5 skin care line.
To finish off your look, try a waterproof eyeliner pencil like MakeUp For Ever’s ‘Aqua Eyes’ in any of a dozen fabulous colors and Tarte’s ‘Lights, Camera, Lashes’ waterproof-but-gentle mascara.
Keep cool and stay gorgeous!
