I’ve been jamming out to “So Annoying” by Ghostel basically every day for the past couple of weeks. And if you listen to KROQ, you’ve actually heard them a couple times already!! I love a good indie rock band and these guys definitely have what it takes to be the next big breakout!!
The band:
21-year-old singer Bryce Buckmaster and the husband-and-wife team of Daniel Knowles and Jennifer Farmer. Knowles, of course, is well-known on the L.A. scene as the sound engineer at the Bootleg, he’s a guy who sees more bands in a month than most people see in a year. Before the Englishman met his future bride and settled in L.A., he was the guitarist and producer for U.K. shoegazers Amusement Parks on Fire. Ghostel actually has its roots in Buckmaster’s former band, Volapike; Farmer, once the booker at Safari Sam’s, came across a demo from the teenage rockers, and eventually Knowles did some studio work with them. Fast-forward past Volapike’s demise, and the couple asked Buckmaster to lay down some vocals on one of their demos. Things clicked. Knowles says the trio’s ensuing recording sessions were “spontaneous, loose and a shitload of fun.”
